18 June 2021- In conjunction with the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2021 (CIPTA 2021) organised by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) in partnership with the Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad as the main sponsor, the CIPTA 2021 Executive Seminar themed ‘Innovations for Society 5.0’ was held at the Main Conference Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC).
The Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. The seminar began with a welcoming remark by the Head of CIPTA 2021 Seminar Committee, Yang Mulia Dr. Wida Susanty binti Hj Suhaili. In her remarks, Dr. Wida Susanty mentioned that this is the first time the Executive Seminar is being conducted in a three-day series format.
“The series is designed to encapsulate the audience’s knowledge to another level. To materialise the idea, to bring that idea and creation to another level but also to first evaluate why we came up with that idea in the first place.” said Dr. Wida. She also added that with a strong motivation and a justified cause will usually bring life to that invention from the very beginning.
The first presentation entitled Innovation Culture & Landscape in Malaysia: NGO’s perspective was presented by Yang Mulia Hussein bin Dato Mohd Ariff, President of Malaysian Association of Creativity & Innovation (MACRI) from Malaysia. Meanwhile, Yang Mulia Dr Eko Fajar Nurprasetyo, Director of PT. Hikari Solusindo Sukses from Indonesia, the second speaker for the seminar presented on A Tale of Research and Commercialisation.
During the seminar, the audience gained insights of how innovation and the creation ecosystem are tackled from both speakers virtually.
The Executive Seminar is part of the CIPTA 2021 Seminar Series that takes place from Friday, 18 June 2021 until 20 June 2021. It is held as part of the Digital Technology Week at Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) initiated by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT).
The three-day Seminar Series also includes Sharing Sessions by Winners on the second day with the theme: Spreading the Winning Vibes, where the winners will share their experience along the invention journey; and will conclude with CIPTA 2021 Forum with the theme: Driving the Innovation Ecosystem.
Winning projects of the CIPTA 2021 will also be showcased at the UTB Gallery from 21 June 2021. Members of the public are welcome to attend the CIPTA 2021 Seminar Series and visit the showcase.
