18 March 2021 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) through Religious Unit of the Student Affairs Office and the ExCo of Religious & Spiritual, UTB Student Representative Council organised a religious talk and prize presentation to winners of the poster competition held in conjunction with the Isra’ Mi’raj 1442H celebration.
The event took place at Lecture Theatre 2, Library Complex, UTB.
Present as the Guest of Honour at the ceremony was the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman. Also present were the principal officers; lecturers; staff; and students of the University.
The event featured a religious talk by the invited speaker Yang Mulia Ustaz Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abd Majid, Counselling and Religious Understanding Unit (KAFA) from Ministry of Religious Affairs.
In the talk entitled “Kewajipan Ibadah Solat dan Keistimewaanya dalam Kehidupan” touched on the importance of devout (khusyuk) in prayers. The speaker also talked about Isra’ and Mi’raj, the miraculous night journey that Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam) took during a single night.
The event continued with a prize presentation by the Guest of Honour to the participants and winners of the poster competition where participants submitted their creativity based on the theme “Kewajipan Ibadah Solat dan Keistimewaanya dalam Kehidupan“. The competition was open to all students at the university.
The Top 3 winners this year were all from the School of Computing and Informatics, where first place went to Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Daniel bin Haji Abdullah, second place went to Yang Mulia Dayang Siti Rasyidah binti Haji Ismail, and Yang Mulia Dayang Siti Nur Hidayah binti Md Dan won third place.
