Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in Conjunction With UTB Convocation 2016
Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) this afternoon held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in conjunction with UTB Convocation 2016. Two hundred and sixteen (216) participants took part in the ceremony which comprise of 78 male and 138 female graduands from Intake 4 of UTB’s undergraduate degree, Intake 2 of HND Level 5 and Intake 29 of BDTVEC Higher National Diploma programmes.
The Minister of Education, the Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman was present as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education; Professor Dr. Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB; senior officials from the Ministry of Education and UTB. The ceremony took place at the University Mosque.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Honourable Minister of Education. This was then followed by the recitation of surahs by the participants, led by Awang Miftah Haziq bin Haji Zulaiehi, a graduand from Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, and followed by the takhtim. Doa Khatam was recited by Awang Md Hardy Bukhary bin Haji Awang Yussof, graduand from Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. The Guest of Honour then presented certificates and souvenirs to the male khatam participants. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB presented certificates and souvenirs to the female participants. Doa Selamat was read by Awang Haji Ahmad Tarmiji Bin Awang Haji Md Daud, the Imam of the University Mosque.
The Third UTB Convocation Festival was launched on 27 October 2016 by His Royal Highness Prince (Dr.) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Pro-Chancellor of UTB. The UTB Convocation Ceremony 2016 for a total of 599 Masters and Undergraduate degree, HND Level 5 and BDTVEC HND graduands will be held on 7 October 2016 at the International Convention Centre.
