New Closing Date for CIPTA 2017
The closing date for submitting entries to the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2017 Competition has been extended to 31 December 2016. For preliminary assessment, the organiser requires prospective participants to complete and submit the entry form along with only a brief description of the project by the closing date.
CIPTA 2017 is the seventh installment of the biennial competition organized by Universiti Teknologi Brunei, in partnership with Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, as the main sponsor. The competition is open to all schools, technical, tertiary and higher education institutions, government and private organizations and the general public.
There are three main competitions: Category 1, 2 and 3 for local participants; the Smart Junior Competition; and the ASEAN Category. The prizes by Category are as follows:
CATEGORY 1, 2 AND 3 (LOCAL COMPETITION)
Category 1: Creating New Product, Process or Technology
1st Prize - B$ 6000.00 cash, a trophy & certificate
2nd Prize - B$ 4000.00 cash, a trophy & certificate
3rd Prize - B$ 2000.00 cash, a trophy & certificate
2 Consolation Prizes - B$ 500.00 cash and certificates
Category 2: Modifying Existing Product, Process or Technology
1st Prize - B$ 6000.00 cash, a trophy & certificate
2nd Prize - B$ 4000.00 cash, a trophy & certificate
3rd Prize - B$ 2000.00 cash, a trophy & certificate
2 Consolation Prizes - B$ 500.00 cash and certificates
Category 3: Creating New or Modifying Existing Product, Process or Technology by Young Inventors

Winner from the ASEAN New Invention & Innovation Category will be eligible to compete with winners from Categories 1 and 2 in the Local Competition for the Crown Prince Special Award to win the grand prize of B$ 8000 and the CIPTA Trophy.
Each entry will be judged based on their novelty and creativity; deployment of end product; social, economic and sustainable design considerations; and the project report and presentation. Assessment of submitted projects will be conducted in two stages starting with the Preliminary Assessment. Only qualified entries will be allowed to proceed to the Final Assessment.
