Youth Entrepreneurship Competition
The finals of the Youth Entrepreneurship Competition was held today at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). The competition was organised by the Economy & Entrepreneurship Executive Committee, one of the 11 Executive Committees (EXCO) under the Student Representative Council of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UTB).
15 contestants made through to the finals and presented their business ideas to the audience and judges. At the end of the competition, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Associate Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman presented awards and certificates to the winners and participants.
Haji Mohammad Loqman Al-Hakim bin Haji Hamdan won first place with his business pitch ‘Al-Huffaz Management’. Second place goes to ‘Teachme Guru’ a business pitch by Azim Yusof, Nadirah Julaihi, and Habibah Mahadi, and third place went to Muhammad Hafizuddin bin Haji Rosli with his business pitch ‘Powergo’.
The purpose of the competition is to expose students to the effective ways of developing and pitching a business model idea through presentation. It also aims to help students across the country to expose their business ideas, and to encourage youth to participate in pitching ideas.
DARE helped kick-off the competition with a talk on why youth entrepreneurship and lessons on entrepreneurship. Selected top winners of the competition are encouraged to be part of the iCentre entrepreneurship national platform.
In the preliminary round of the competition, 25 were shortlisted from 30 contestants. In the semifinals, 15 contestants were selected to go to the final round.
