21 April 2021 – The High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam successfully organized the Bangabandhu Lecture Series2021 at the Lecture Theatre 2, Library Complex, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB).

Present at the event were Yang Mulia Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Taib, Assistant Vice- Chancellor (Industry and Services), representing UTB as the special guest; the Ambassadors of Turkey, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iran; UTB principal officers; academics and students of the university; and Bangladesh and Indian community members.

Acknowledging the presence and significance of an incredible amount of cheerful bonhomie amongst the people of Bangladesh and India, the Bangladeshi envoy categorically mentioned that Bangladesh would never forget India’s contribution and role during its liberation war in 1971. She gratefully called up the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Bangladesh on the eve of the 50 years of independence of Bangladesh and the ongoing celebration of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary.

Her Excellency also expressed her profound gratitude to UTB for supporting the event and the long-standing academic relationship with the university.

The event then followed by a keynote speech by His Excellency Mr Ajaneesh Kumar, High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam, entitled ’50 years of India-Bangladesh relations’.

The High Commissioner of India enlightened the attendees with in-depth knowledge on the historical perspective of India-Bangladesh relations, the unshakable friendship between the two neighbouring nations, current dynamics, and other potential factors influencing the bilateral relations.

His Excellency also mentioned that he paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, by calling him a great leader with all the qualities of head and heart for the emancipation of the then East Pakistan from the shackle of economic and political subjugation and depredation.
