FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS COMPLETED POSTHARVEST TRAINING

 8 October 2019 – Twenty-six students from Food Science and Technology (FST) programme area of School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics (SASM) comprised of 24 Undergraduate and 2 Postgraduate students had undergone a postharvest training on fruits and vegetables at Sinaut Agricultural Training Centre, Tutong.

The group of students was led by SASM lecturer, Yang Mulia Dr. Syazana binti Abdullah Lim. The half-day training was organised by the Postharvest Unit, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, and facilitated by Yang Mulia Muhd Shukri Makhbar, Assistant Agriculture Officer.

This training was part of FST programme to provide field exposure and hands-on exercises for students that balances theoretical knowledges that they acquired in class and practical aspect. The activities included best practices to reduce product losses, enhance produce quality and safety, and improve value chain efficiency.
