24 September 2019 – In commemorating New Islamic Year 1441 Hijrah, a religious talk and thanksgiving prayer for the safe return of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Hajj Pilgrims were held at the Lecture Theatre 2, UTB. The event was organized by the Religious Unit, Student Affairs Office.
In attendance at the event as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ady Syarmin bin Hj Md Taib, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB. Also present were Principal Officers, lecturers, staff and students.
The religious talk was delivered by an invited speaker, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Mohd Khairul Nazif bin Haji Awang Damit, Assistant Lecturer Faculty of Usuluddin from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali. The speaker highlighted the meaning of Hijrah as migration of an individual, migrating from the life of sin to piety and the concept of Hijrah in terms of reforming oneself to becoming better individual with the sole intention to please Allah Subnahu Wata’ala.
This was then followed by a Dikir Marhaban to celebrate the return of Hajj Pilgrims from the University.
