3 May 2019 – In conjunction with the year-long ‘Balance for Better’ theme for International Women’s Day 2019, a talk on “Shifting the Balance for Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)” hosted by eBunda and supported by Peak Performance Sdn Bhd was held at Sejahtera Conference Room, Royal Brunei Recreational Club yesterday.
At the half-day event, four panel speakers shared their insights on the challenges and development of women in STEM related industries, education and professions. Representing UTB as one of the panel speakers, was Yang Mulia Ms. Nasyhea Abdullah, Clinical Psychologist and Counselling Officer.
The panel speakers at the talk included Yang Mulia Ms. Nasyhea, Yang Mulia Ms. Farhanah, Senior Application Development Analyst from Dynamik Technologies; Yang Mulia Ms. Diana Omar Ali, an Engineer from Royal Brunei Airlines; and Yang Mulia Ms. Izuana from Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam. These women shared their views on opportunities for those considering a career in STEM and how women need grit in this male dominated world of STEM. They also highlighted on the importance incorporating positive mindset into work to make that balance possible.
eBunda was launched in 2010 as part of Dynamik Technologies’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) “Dynamik Prihatin” series of programmes, specifically to highlight and encourage women development initiatives in striving towards Brunei’s Vision 2035 and continues to champion awareness on issues which are important to women such as family, health, business, finance, career, education and affirmative actions in influencing positive contributions to Brunei.
