27 April 2019 – UTB Administrative Staff attended the ‘Email Writing Workshop” at the Training Room of the University. The workshop was organised by the Centre for Communication, Teaching & Learning (CCTL) as part of the Administrative Staff Development Programme and was facilitated by Yang Mulia Miss Thulasimani Munohsamy, a lecturer from CCTL.
The workshop was designed to guide participants to write effective emails and avoid the unnecessary confusion that email communication can cause. A total of 18 administrative staff from various departments attended the workshop.
The facilitator provided the basic guideline to write effective emails and the participants were also actively engaged in writing and replying effective email exercises, presented and discussed with other participants their opinions on the exercises. The workshop ended with feedback session by the participants.
The objectives of this workshop were to determine the appropriateness of writing emails, tips on how to write an engaging opening that gets to the point fast, to write informative subject lines so the messages will be read first, to use a friendly, readable style and be positive: avoid negative triggers.
