14 February 2019 – Team Rapido from UTB brought home the champion title in the National Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Innovative Design Challenge. The event took place at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
The Guest of Honor, The Honorable Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah Bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education presented the prizes to the respective winners. Also present were the Deputy Minister of Education, Yang Mulia Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.
According to the Acting Director from the Department of Development Curriculum, Ministry of Education, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Md Yusuf, in his speech, he said that the purpose of this challenge is to provide foundation for the students to showcase their creativity, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that can create a significant impact especially in the 4th Industrial Revolution 4.0 era.
Team Rapido from UTB emerged as the overall champion in the Senior Category competed with other institutions from Sixth Form Centres and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
