Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) welcomes 27 new graduate students for the January 2019 Intake. This intake is made up of students undertaking Masters of Science by Research and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The ceremony was atended by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Principal Officers, lecturers, and staff of UTB.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by the welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Professor Dr Zuruzi Abu Samah, the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research) of UTB. In his speech, Professor Dr Zuruzi began by congratulating the new graduate students on embarking on another academic journey.
“UTB will provide continuous support for your successful journey. Your supervisors and other lecturers are here to help you in your research. Meet them often to seek guidance, advice or even just to chat. Later as you near the end of this journey, they can help you with the completion of your thesis, career tips and other helpful tips” he said.
It was then continued by a briefing by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Yang Mulia Professor Dr Ardeshir Bahreininejad. He briefed the new students on the function of the Graduate Studies and Research Office, and shared important points on how to achieve a successful research and finishing a thesis on time.
The ceremony was continued with briefings and talks by the Registrar and Secretary’s Office, the Bursar’s Office, the Student Affair Office, and by the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Centre of UTB.
UTB currently offers 7 Masters of Science by Coursework, Masters of Science by Research, and PhD Programmes in Engineering, Business, Computing and Informatics. UTB prides itself in delivering industry-relevant and hands-on academic programmes that can produce marketable graduates that meet the needs of the nation and its industries and continues to attract good number of graduate students to the University.
