18 November 2018 – The closing ceremony for the third Computational Intelligence in Information Systems (CIIS 2018) International Conference organised by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) under the School of Computing and Informatics was held today at the Lecture Theatre 2, at the University.
The Guest of Honour of the ceremony was the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research), Yang Mulia Professor Dr Zuruzi bin Abu Samah; Chairperson of the Steering Committee CIIS 2018. Also in attendance were UTB Principal Officers and staff, and participants of the conference.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat. To mark the closing of the conference, Co-Chairperson of the Organising Committee CIIS 2018, Yang Mulia Dr Dayang Wida Susanty binti Haji Suhaili delivered her closing remarks.
In her remarks, she thanked the paper presenters, keynote speakers, invited speakers, poster & video presenters, and panelists for their contribution to the conference. “Many of you have travelled long distances to be with us and we appreciate your willingness to openly share your knowledge and experiences. A conference becomes a success only if participants arrive. They are the lifeblood of a conference. Thus, we do express our sincere thanks to all of you who have come to be with us today.”
She also said in her remarks, “Data have been the core that drives the economy in this digitally-enabled world. A lot of research has been conducted over the years to explore the richness of data and what it can offer. These data can be used in improving urban and community liveability, mobility, security, healthcare and efficient allocation of resources among many other areas”.
A total of 20 papers from 14 countries, 2 Keynote Presentations, panel discussions, poster competition and data analytics workshop were presented during the three-day conference at UTB.
Also at the ceremony, the Guest of Honour presented prizes to winners of the Best Paper Presentation Awards, Video Competition Award, and Poster Competition Awards.

CIIS provides an opportunity to research scholars, academicians, industrialists and research students to interact and share their experience and knowledge in the recent technological advancements in the field of Computing and Information Systems.
