09 MARCH 2018 – IT Protective Security Services Sdn Bhd (ITPSS) in its role as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) recently collaborated with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) to produce videos for cybersecurity public awareness. The objective behind the collaboration was to create cyber security awareness amongst young Bruneians, foster creativity and giving students an opportunity to showcase their skills.
Students of UTB’s Creative Computing Program were tasked with creating videos related to various cybersecurity and online safety issues. BruCERT then selected 3 of the videos for use in its ongoing public awareness campaign. The top video were chose based on creativity, quality and clarify of the message.
In first place was Abdul Mu’ein bin Awang Yahya who produced a video on ‘Online Addiction’, followed by Farahan binti Julaihi for ‘Always #latepost’, and Rozita binti Razalli for ‘Backup Your Data’. The winners were rewarded with cash prizes and their videos will be used in local television ads, cinema ads, and on BruCERT’s social media accounts.
BruCERT is a national referral agency dealing with computer-related and internet-related security in Brunei Darussalam. It engages in public awareness initiatives, highlighting online threats, cyber safety and dispenses advise on securing personal information. BruCERT offers free cybersecurity awareness talks for schools and education institutions throughout Brunei Darussalam, and has a regular radio show Cyber Safe on RTB’s Pilihan FM.
