29 OCTOBER 2017 - As part of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)’s Fourth Convocation Festival 2017, the Innov8 Run & Cycle, Innov8 Pop Up Vendor, and the UTB Photomarathon were launched. The events were held at the Capital City, Bandar Seri Begawan, to enliven Bandarku Ceria.
Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB was present as the Guest of Honour at the event. Also present at the event were the university’s Principal Officers, staff, and students of the University.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa’ Selamat, followed by the ribbon cutting by the Guest of Honour to officiate and launch the UTB Photomarathon, and Innov8 Pop Up Vendors, and symbolize the start of the Innov8 Run & Cycle. The Innov8 Pop Up Vendors, which was set up along Jalan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, was organised by the Executive Committee (EXCO) Economy & Entrepreneurship under the Student Representative Council of UTB (Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UTB). The objective was to gather the alumni of UTB as well as staff and students, and increase their entrepreneurial interest.
The UTB Photomarathon is the first photography competition organised by the UTB Photography Club. The competition brings together photographic talents within the society from various age groups. Participants take a series of photographs on pre-determined subjects in a set period of time. The photos are then judged in terms of the photographic technique, and creativity in interpreting the theme.
UTB’s Fourth Convocation Festival 2017 (Pesta Konvo Ke Empat 2017) was officiated on the 16 of September 2017 with the theme ‘Innov8’ which is derived from the word ‘Innovate’. Innovate means making changes to the current state through the introduction of something new, new process, new idea, new methods or new product. A total of 802 graduates from Masters and Undergraduate Degree, Higher National Diploma Level Five, and BDTVEC Higher National Diploma graduated this year from UTB, at the UTB Convocation 2017 held on the 30th of September 2017.
