17 October 2017 – Univerisiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held an Award presentation ceremony for the Deans’ List and Co-Curricular Activities in conjunction with UTB Convocation Ceremony 2017.
The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education. Also present were the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, and senior officials from the Ministry of Education and UTB. The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa’ Selamat, followed by the Welcoming Speech by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The ceremony continued with the award presentation to the students by the Deputy Minister of Education. UTB introduced the Dean’s List for the first-time in 2015. The Dean’s List gives recognition to first, second and third year students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in their studies. They represent the top 5% of students in their respective fields.
This year, a total of 29 students received the Dean’s List award in their respective programmes from UTB School of Business, School of Computing and Informatics, and the Faculty of Engineering.
Meanwhile, five students who have excelled in their co-curricular activities also received their awards. The award categories for the co-curricular activities are: ‘Religious Activities’ (translate: Kegiatan Ugama), ‘Outstanding Life Skill Achiever’, ‘Outstanding Community Service Achiever’, and ‘Sportsman of The Year 2017’.
