UTB Vice-Chancellor at the Seeds for the Future

13 October 2017 - The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Professor Dr. Dayang Hjh Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman was invited to attend the closing ceremony for Huawei ‘Seeds for the Future’ Program in Shenzen, China. In attendance were also the Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia; Datuk Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching and Vice Chancellor of UMS Sabah; Professor Dr. Kamaruddin D. Mudin.

From UTB, the Huawei ‘Seeds for the Future’ program was participated by students from the Faculty of Engineering and School of Computing and Informatics; Muhammad Hanif bin Jumat, Benjamin Law Jing Fei and Nur Syadza Elyana binti Abdullah Kok. The two-week study program started on 1 October until 14 October 2017.  Other students from various countries also attended the program.

The ‘Seeds for the Future’ program aims to develop local Information Communication Technology (ICT) talent; enhance knowledge transfer and at the same time promote vision towards 2035. The program was introduced to Brunei in 2015 and this year is the third year in the running for Brunei Darussalam. With this program it leverages its world-leading ICT technologies in the program to cultivate ICT professionals in the countries where it operates and thus drive the local industry forward.

The student delegates were given the opportunities to explore technologies advancement in the growing economy particularly in China. They were also given a glimpse to the global business operations, cross-cultural work practices that may assist venture towards ICT career path in the future.

During the visit; Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah also had the opportunity to visit Huawei F1 Exhibition, Huawei Industry Solutions Centre, Huawei Headquarters and Huawei University.
