30 September 2017 - The Graduates’ Congratulatory Ceremony was held in conjunction with Universiti Teknologi Brunei Convocation Ceremony 2017 to celebrate the 802 graduates who have successfully completed their studies and to recognize graduates that have excelled in their academic programmes and involvement in co-curricular activities.
The Minister of Education and Chairman of the UTB Council, The Honorable Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman was present as the Guest of Honour. Also present were The Honorable Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Hayati binti Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Salleh, Attorney General; Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education, and other members of the UTB Council.
The event began with the recitation of the Surat Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming speech by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman.
The Guest of Honour also presented awards in various categories to 33 graduates. The award categories include the University Excellence Award, Excellence in Programme Area, Best Project Award, Best Student in Niche Area, Petrokon Utama Engineering Award, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Local Network Prize, IMechE-Brunei Award, and PUJA Prestige 2017 Student Award.
