UTB COLLABORATES WITH UCYP FOR INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE WORKSHOP IN ENGLISH STUDIES 2021

27 August 2021 – English academia shared and discussed their papers and research findings on English Language Research during the International Research Conference Workshop – English Studies (IRCW-ELS) 2021. Joining the academic discussion event was Centre for Communication, Teaching and Learning (CCTL), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB).

Aimed to underpin the development teaching and research in English Language Education, the two-day conference workshop themed ‘Advanced Teaching & Research in English’ was organised by University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP). It was officiated virtually on 26 August 2021.

The conference was hosted in collaboration with UTB, Association of Language Teachers in Southeast Asia (ALTSA), UCYP Press, University of Niigata Prefecture, Academic Education International Journals (AEIJ), Universitas Teuku Umar, Phetchaburi Rajabhat University, National Institute of Education from Nanyang Technological University, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Universiti Malaya.

Throughout the event, participants were given the opportunity to share knowledge, research findings and ideas, to publish their papers in international reputable journals, which are indexed such as in Scopus, International Copernicus Index (ICI) and/or DOAJ.

Keynote sessions and workshops were conducted for the attendees to gain new knowledge on how to publish research base paper.

Meanwhile for paper presentation session, around twenty-four presenters from various countries including Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, and India delivered their insightful research topics related to the current issues.

From UTB, four papers were presented during the conference by lecturers from CCTL. Dayang Shana Mat Salleh presented on An Exploratory Investigation into Classroom Discourse and Teaching in A Bruneian University. Two papers entitled “My Proofreader’s Taken Care of that”: The Academic Dilemma on the Use of Proof Readers for Academic Assignments; and International Postgraduates’ Perception on Academic Writing: A Lesson on Criticality were delivered by Dr. Dayang Mas Ayu Mumin respectively. On the second day of the conference, Dr. Dayang Lee Kok Yueh talked about A Study of the Language Used in Academic Written Feedback.

The participants and attendees during the presentation session had the privilege to gather and exchange knowledge and establish networking through the platform.
