15 December 2020 – In an effort to advance its commitment to expand educational opportunities, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Micronet International College (MIC) has embarked another new milestone by signing another Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) today for an Articulation Programme in the Computing fields.

The signing ceremony took place at The Empire Brunei in Jerudong.

Present as the Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Hj. Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy and Deputy Chairman of UTB Council.

Signing on behalf of UTB was the Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, witnessed by the Dean of School of Computing & Informatics, Yang Mulia Dr. Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar. Representing MIC were the Chief Executive Officer, Yang Mulia Mr. Sylvester Yong and the General Manager, Yang Mulia Ms. Sharon Chin as witness.

The ceremony commenced with a welcoming remark by the CEO of MIC followed by remarks by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB. The event then proceeded with the signing of the agreement between the two institutions witnessed by the Guest of Honour.

The newly signed four-year Articulation Programme will further strengthened the partnership between the two institutions. The ‘UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programmes’ will offer two undergraduate degree programmes namely Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computing (Major in Network Security) and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computing (Major in Multimedia) to be offered by both UTB and MIC. The programme will commence starting next year, 2021.

This agreement will ensure a seamless pathway for eligible potential students seeking admission to university in the two areas, from studying at MIC to earning their bachelor’s degree at UTB initially. Under the MoA, for first few years, MIC will deliver the first year of the four-year articulation degree programmes. Upon completion of their first year, the students will then continue the remaining three years of their studies at UTB. The exclusive UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programmes will proceed until it is eventually-fully run by MIC.

In providing quality education, UTB continues to work with its stakeholders from the higher education institutions and industry locally and internationally to provide extensive academic and industrial exposure and opportunities for its students including its prospect students.
