Cottage Industry Entrepreneurs Complete Product Development and Commercialization Training
19 participants comprising five trainees from the Brunei Arts and Handicraft Training Centre and 14 cottage industry entrepreneurs representing various Village Consultative Councils and private individuals from the Brunei-Muara District have completed the 'Comprehensive Training for Cottage Industry: Product Development and Commercialization' on September 3.
The customised five-day training programme which started on August 29 is organised by Universiti Teknologi Brunei as one of its Community Engagement initiatives. The programme was designed specifically for cottage industry entepreneurs who are involved in the manufacturing and weaving sectors.
The aims of the Programme are to equip the participants with knowledge and skills that will enable them to produce more creative and innovative products that have a better competitive edge in the market; encourage cooperation and knowledge transfer between various agencies to empower cottage enterprises; and support the economic diversification efforts of the country.
The highly hands-on Programme is facilitated by UTB academic staff and the modules delivered include Effective Communication, Creative Design, Manufacturing Processes and Systems, Internal and External Branding.
Three other groups of 60 participants comprising Village Consultative Council members and private cottage entrepreneurs from the Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts, and trainees from the Brunei Arts and Handicraft Training Centre will undergo the same training in three other sessions scheduled in October, November and December this year.
