KHATAM AL-QURAN CEREMONY IN CONJUNCTION WITH UTB CONVOCATION 2020

26 October 2020 – In conjunction with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Convocation 2020, a total of seventy-one participants took part in the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony which was held at the University Mosque, Tungku Link, Gadong.

The participants comprised of twenty-eight male and fourty-three female graduands from Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree.

Present as the Guest of Honour was Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. Also present were principal officers, lecturers, staff, parents and guardians of the Khatam participants.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Awang Hj Ady Syarmin bin Hj Md Taib, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTB (Industry & Services) followed by recitation of Surah Ad-Dhuha until Surah Al-Masad by the participants, which was led by Awang Muhammad Muizzuddin Asyur bin Awang Mat Japar, graduand from Bachelor of Science in Creative Multimedia.

The event then proceeded with Takhtim and Doa Khatam recited by Awang Muhammad Khaliq Syafie bin Md Don, graduand from Bachelor of Business in Finance and Risk Management.

The Guest of Honour presented certificates and souvenirs to the female khatam participants and as for the male khatam participants was presented by Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTB (Industry & Services). The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat which was read by Imam Mohammad bin Bagol, Imam of the University Mosque.

A Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah was also held after the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony. The recitation of Tahlil was led by Imam of the University Mosque, who later read the Doa Arwah.

For the upcoming UTB Convocation Ceremony 2020, a total of 307 graduands will be graduating on Monday, 16 November 2020 at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
