UTB WORLD FOOD DAY 2020

17 October 2020 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) was filled with tastes, national costumes, music and flags on the UTB World Food Day 2020. World Food Day is celebrated every year worldwide on October 16 to commemorate the founding of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation with the theme Grow, Nourish, Sustain, Together.

The collaborative event organised by ExCo Culture and ExCo International  Affairs was held at the University’s concourse. Officiating the event was the Guest of Honour, Professor Dr Dayang Hjh Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. Also present were principal officers, staff and students of the university.

UTB World Food Day 2020 let the campus community tried native dishes from cultures around the world including countries from Samoa, Cameron, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Tanzania, Iraq, Indonesia and Brunei.

The event includes booths showcasing the cultures of various countries, national costumes, and traditional dishes which prepared by by both local and international staff and students of the university. Performances such as guling tangan, traditional dance and singing were also showcased throughout the event.

The event aimed to allow the UTB community to experience other cultures through the tasting of ethnic foods from around the world and promote an inclusive society in UTB by uniting the local students and staff with the international students and the uniqueness of different cultures.
