3 August 2020 – In commemoration of Hari Raya Aidiladha which fell on 10 Zulhijjah 1441, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held a korban and aqiqah ceremony at the Multipurpose Hall, UTB.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-fatihah followed by a mass takbir and religious talk by the guest speaker Yang Mulia Ustaz Hayattuddin bin Haji Moksin, a lecturer from Pusat Penyelidikan Mazhab Shafi’i, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
Ustaz Hayattuddin delivered a talk on Penghayatan Ibadah Korban Dalam Kehidupan where he highlighted on the sacred rites of korban during Aidiladha festival.
The event then concluded with the distribution of portioned korban and aqiqah meat to twenty-one korban recipients, thirty asnaf fakir miskin recipients and underprivileged students of the University which was presented by the Guest of Honour. The sacrificial meat contributions were conducted via drive-thru.
The annual event is jointly organised by the Religious Unit, Student Affairs Office; and UTB Student Representative Council (MPPUTB).
