5 December 2019 – Learning Ladders Society, a non-profit organisation that helps children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) received a total of BND$3,587, raised from participants of the Varsity Cycle 6.0 event held on 22 September 2019.
The Charity Cycling event was organised in conjunction with the 73rd Birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU-SB). Varsity Cycle 6.0 was co-organised by UBD, UTB, UNISSA and KUPU-SB.
The handover of donation ceremony took place at Learning Ladders Society, Jalan Gadong. The cheque was presented by Yang Mulia Datin Dr. Dayang Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice-Chancellor of UBD; Yang Mulia Dayang Dr. Hajah Noor Maya binti Hj Md Salleh, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB; Yang Mulia Dr. Awang Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA; and Yang Mulia Datin Dr. Hajah Noorhira binti Haji Noorkaseh, Acting Assistant Ra’es of KUPU-SB.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of Learning Ladders Society was Yang Mulia Dr. Sharina binti Haji Yunus, President and Co-founder of Learning Ladders Society. Senior officers and staff from UBD, UTB, UNISSA and KUPU-SB also witnessed the handover ceremony.
More than 200 participants joined the 73km cycling expedition, included senior officials, lecturers, staff and students of the four universities and members of the public.
