UTB Welcomes Over 300 New Students

University life begins today for over 300 new students of Universiti Teknologi Brunei. The new set of student intake for the academic year 2016/2017 flocked to the campus to enroll today. The enrolment session marks the start of a four-day orientation programme which is designed for the new students to familiarize themselves with campus life, and for meeting new people. The 2016/2017 intake is made up mostly of Intake 8 of UTB's undergraduate degree programmes, and also Taught Masters and Graduate Research students.

The new students will have the opportunity to meet with their programme lecturers and gain further insight on the academic programme that they will be pursuing. During the orientation programme, the students will be given a tour around the campus, and be familiarized with the support services and facilities that are available at the University. The orientation week is organised by the Offices of the Registrar and Student Affairs and also the Student Representative Council of UTB.

The programme also gives an opportunity for the students to get to know each other and also meet with members of the UTB Student Representative Council, which is a vibrant and active student body at the University. They will also be participating in a number of interactive activities lined up throughout the weekand also attending a motivational talk. Guest speakers from the Narcotics Control Bureau Departmentand Information Department will also conduct talks on 'Drugs Misuse', and 'Appreciation of the National Flag and Anthem' respectively.

UTB currently offers 20 undergraduate degree, five Taught Masters, Masters by Research, and PhD programmes in Engineering, Business, Computing and Informatics. UTB prides itself in delivering industry-relevant and hands-on academic programmes that can produce marketable graduates that meet the needs of the nation and its industries.

The orientation will end on July 28 and the new semester will begin on August 1, 2016.
