UTB Student Completed Total Energy Summer School in France
Noorul Zatul Amali Serbini, a final-year Mechanical Engineering undergraduate from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) completed the Total Energy Summer School (TESS) held at the European Center for Executive Development (CEDEP) on the INSEAD campus, Fontainebleau, France from 10 - 13 July 2016. The prestigious four-day programme was organised by the French Energy company, Total.
The Total Energy Summer School (TESS) is a highly engaging and interactive programme where students, leading academics and industry experts from all over the world explore future challenges and solutions for the energy industry. It is a highly competitive programme that received 6761 applications this year and only 80 applicants were selected. The programme also hosted 40 professors and around 30 experts / managers from Total.
Noorul Zatul Amali Serbini joined the other lucky 79 students from countries all over the world. During the programme, students went through a stimulating mix of lectures, and group activities alongside academics, and industry thought leaders to explore the energy of the future. The innovative programme focused on new global energy challenges and their impact on the sector and the world of education.
Noorul is passionate about materials and energy. She explored the use of bamboo as a sustainable replacement for steel reinforcements in concrete for her Final Year Project. She intends to continue her research in bamboo for her Master’s studies at UTB.
