UTB Staff Excellence Awards 2016
14 July 2016 - Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) holds the annual ‘Staff Excellence Awards’ presentation today at the Multipurpose Hall of the University. The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was the Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman.
The Staff Excellence Awards were introduced last year aimed at recognising and rewarding the outstanding and valuable contribution of staff to the success of the University in achieving its strategic goals.
The Welcoming Address was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. In her address, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted that UTB prides itself on the calibre of its people, from internationally-recognised academic leaders in their fields to talented professionals and administrative staff providing technical expertise. Associate Professor Dr. Hajah Zohrah also announced the introduction of the ‘Special Mention’ category under the Teaching, Research and Administration Excellence Awards which is aimed at giving recognition to recipients who have been shortlisted in the finals.
A total of ten staff received the Excellence Awards and nine received the Special Mention in the respective categories for Teaching, Research and Administration. The Awards and Special Mention certificates were presented by the Minister of Education. Each recipient of the Excellence Awards received a plaque, certificate of recognition and cash prize of $1,000.00. Those receiving the Special Mention received a certificate.

The ceremony was followed by a Hari Raya Celebration with the Minister of Education visiting the Hari Raya 'open booths' set-up by the different programmes and sections of the University.
Also present at the ceremony were Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education; Permanent Secretary (Core Education); Acting Permanent Secretary (Higher Education); Vice-Chancellor of UBD and Acting Rector of UNISSA.
