24 April 2019 – In conjunction with the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2019, the Executive Seminar themed ‘Industry 4.0: Convergence of Innovation’ was held at the Lecture Theatre 2, Library Complex, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB).
The Guest of Honour at the seminar was Yang Mulia Mr. Patrice Girard, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad. Also present at the seminar, was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The seminar began with a welcoming remark by the Head of CIPTA Seminar Organising Committee, Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Mohammad Khairul Ja’afar bin Awang Haji Masri.
The first presentation entitled ‘Innovation & Entrepreneurship – How DARe can help you?’ was presented by Yang Mulia Dayang Diana binti Haji Ramli, Manager of Market Access Unit from Darussalam Enterprise (DARe). In her presentation, Dayang Diana shared the current programmes and support assistance provided by DARe including upskilling anyone who are looking to start and run their own business out of their innovative ideas; how DARe can provide them with knowledge; as well as instilling them with the grit and determination needed to follow through with their ideas and eventually shared the support needed in order to break through the market and grow.
Yang Mulia Tengku Diana binti Tengku Syed Abdul Rahman, Assistant Executive Officer from Brunei Intellectual Property (BruIPO), the second speaker for the seminar presented on ‘Intellectual Property in Brunei Darussalam’. During her presentation, Tengku Diana started with enlightening the audience with objectives of Intellectual Property (IP), the four different types of IP protection which include Patent, Trademark, Industrial Design, and Plant Variety Protection. In her presentation she also talked briefly on IP protection fees, application processes and its benefits.
The final presentation of the seminar was delivered by Yang Mulia Dayang Rabiatul Adawiyah binti Abdullah, Director of RAB Global Green Sendirian Berhad entitled ‘Patent journey for Solar Colar Panel – PCT Route’. In her presentation, she focused on the detailed process of obtaining the patent for innovative coloured solar panel and the roles of RAB Global Green in contributing to the future of renewable energy in Brunei Darussalam.
The seminar ended with a tour of exhibition at the respective booths from DARe, BruIPO, RAB Global Green as well as two invited agencies from Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Corporate Banking and Bank Usahawan.
