26 February 2019 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) officially inducted the new Student Representative Council members for the 2019/2020 session during a handover ceremony that was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, UTB.
The new council members also recited their ceremonial pledge in the presence of the Guest of Honour, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib. The reading of the pledge was led by Yang Mulia Awangku Muhammad Wafiy bin Pengiran Haji Amir Isa, the new elected President of Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Universiti Teknologi Brunei (MPPUTB) Session 2019/2020. Also present were the Principal Officers; Student Affairs Officers; staff and lecturers; parents; members of the Campus LEAD UTB as well as the current members and alumni of MPPUTB.
Since the establishment of MPPUTB in 2011, the ceremony has been organised annually to officially introduce the new line of members of the Student Representative Council to the students and lecturers of UTB. The members were appointed through a strict selection process conducted by the alumni of MPPUTB and selected UTB staff which included a challenging orientation camp to further test their capabilities and expose them to better understand their tasks, roles and responsibilities as new leaders.
In addition, the ceremony also celebrated the end of service for the previous batch of MPPUTB Session 2018/2019 members who were presented with certificates of acknowledgement by the Guest of Honour. A total of 99 certificates were given out to the retiring members of MPPUTB Session 2018/2019 to appreciate their untiring dedication and commitments throughout their one year of service.
