26 APRIL 2018 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) commemorated the auspicious Isra’ Mi’raj event with a religious lecture at the Lecture Theatre 2, Library Complex, UTB. The ceremony was organised by the Student Affairs Section and the UTB Student Representative Council. The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTB (Academic), Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Md Salleh.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Hamizan bin Haji Ibrahim, Deputy 1 of Executive Committee (EXCO) of Religious & Spiritual, Student Representative Council 2018/2019 (MPPUTB) (translate to: Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UTB 2018/2019) This was followed by the religious talk by the invited speaker from the Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei (MUIB), Yang Mulia Awang Hilman bin Hj Salim. In the talk entitled ‘The benefits of Mass prayer and the Impact on Society.’
The speaker highlighted the benefits of mass prayer. He elaborated that mass prayer provides a constant reminder of the essence of our creation and provides a direct connection to Allah. He also emphasizes the proximity between mass prayer and daily life. In life, mass prayer establishes humility and sincerity and as a mean of restrainer from shameful and unjust deeds. It is also a source of stability, equality and unity amongst society.
The ceremony ended with the Doa Selamat by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Asyur bin Awang Mat Japar, Head of EXCO of Religious & Spiritual.
