22 October 2017 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) took part in yet another historic event to mark the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhun Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne.
One of the main highlights of the Golden Jubliee Celebration was the Decorated Vehicle Parade, the Junjung Kasih and Kesyukuran Ceremony and the Official launching of Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas which took place on the same day at the Capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
At the event, UTB introduces its official mascot to the public for the first time by participating in the Decorated Vehicle Parade with a Robotic Concept.
The Robot named Awang Jubli was chosen as the official mascot for the University. A.J. is the acronym for Awang Jubli, it is a manifestation of UTB’s expertise in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). A.J. was created on the 5 October 2017 in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne. The Golden colour of A.J. represents the 50 years of His majesty’s ruling.
