Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony to mark the conclusion of the Tadarus programme for the month of Ramadhan 1438 for 43 university staff. The annual collective reading of the holy Quran commenced at the start of Ramadhan, organised as a means to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT and rewards through Qur’an reading and reflection. The programme was also organised to glorify the holy month of Ramadhan, the month of the Qur’an. The ceremony took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall of UTB. The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Professor Dr. Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib, Acting Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) followed by the recitation of Surah Ad-Dhuha until Surah An-Nas by the participants. Subsequently, Takhtim was read and concluded with the Doa Khatam by Ustaz Mohd Fazalley bin Hj Hidup, and Dikir Marhaban. The Guest of Honour then presented souvenirs in the form of mushaf Al-Qur`an to female khatam participants. and the Acting Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) presented the mushaf to male participants. The mushaf were wakaf from the Meraih Barkah Group.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of donations and mushaf to 29 orphan students in UTB by the Guest of Honour. The ceremony concluded with the Doa Selamat and mass Asar prayer led by Ustaz Mohd Fazalley.
