CIPTA 2017 Judging Concludes

The judging process of the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2017 concluded with the Participants’ Presentation and Judges Evaluation that took place in closed-door sessions on 28 & 29 March 2017 at Universiti Teknologi Brunei.

There are two stages in the CIPTA judging process. The first stage is the Preliminary Assessment Stage, and the final stage is the Participant’s Presentation and Judges Evaluation Stage.

In the Preliminary Assessment Stage, submitted project abstracts were assessed to ensure that the projects satisfy the rules and regulations of the competitions. 38 out of 47 entries managed to proceed to the Participants’ Presentation and Judges Evaluation Stage.

In this final stage, participants were required to present their inventions in front of a panel of international and local judges. This year, ten international and local judges have been appointed from various backgrounds including engineering, research, innovation, education and business.

The judging panel evaluated the projects based on several criteria in accordance to the category of the competition. The assessed criteria include novelty, deployability of the end product, social, economic and sustainable design considerations, and the quality of the report and the presentation.
